Since Metal Slug Tactics was officially announced a little over a year ago, things have gone suspiciously quiet around the title. Now it is probably clear why this is the case: the release had to be postponed.
It has been quiet about Metal Slug Tactics for a long time, but now there is news again about the new offshoot of the long-standing series – but these are not necessarily pleasant. Leikir Studio and DotEmu have now officially announced that the release of the spin-off has to be postponed.
Like many other video games previously planned for 2022, Metal Slug Tactics will now only be released in the coming year 2023. The comeback of the classic gaming IP was only announced last summer, although SNK’s 2D action series is changing genres with Tactics.
Metal Slug has its origins as a 2D action game by Nazca Corporation, which was merged into SNK Corporation in 1996. The franchise follows a group of soldiers who must fight off military, alien and zombie invasions. This was accomplished via run & gun gameplay with platforming elements and shoot ’em up mechanics.
Metal Slug Tactics brings back the franchise after over 13 years but is now set up as a strategy RPG. The game is now set to release sometime in 2023 for PC and Switch.
