Game news Metro Exodus: The next-gen version stumbles on backup transfers
Today, Metro Exodus launches on next generation consoles and offers a next generation update for players with a PS4 and Xbox One version. However, this new version fishes on the transfer of backups and prefers a system of chapters.
The case is complex for owners of a PS4 and Xbox One version of Metro Exodus who want to try it out on their brand new next-gen console. 4A Games has confirmed that PS4 scores simply cannot be transferred to PS5. Instead of this transfer, there is a chapter sharing system.
However, if you can switch between two chapters, your progress or resources will not take away with you. To compensate for this, you will be allocated a set of equipment and resources at the beginning of the chapter.
There is no memory or trophy transfer on PlayStation. However, we have implemented a chapter selection feature so you can get started at any level.

We have the versions Xbox Series X | S and PlayStation 5 added a feature to unlock chapters, for players who don’t want to play again but want to see a certain level with the new features. This feature provides a range of standard devices and resources at the beginning of the selected chapter.
On the Microsoft side are Xbox Series X | S players are a little better off, but still encounter some limitations and the same chapter system. This means that the memory files can be migrated from the Xbox One to the next generation, but only during the chapter breaks. A solution made possible by the Smart Delivery function.
All of this to say that it is advisable wait until the end of a chapter and the sequence with the next before proceeding with the next-gen update. So your equipment and resources will follow you as you migrate.
So yeah, it’s all a bit complicated. A little more down to earth, the next-gen update to Metro Exodus brings many visual improvements, including ray trading, new 4K textures and a slider for the field of view.
The next-gen version is available starting today for owners of a PS4 and Xbox One version. A dedicated physical version called Metro Exodus Complete Edition is also available and includes the base game, which is rated 16/20 in our columns, as well as the two expansions: Sam’s Story and The Two Colonels.
