Nintendo has released a new update for the action-adventure Metroid Dread – and with it comes the new Boss Rush mode and more.
If you play Metroid Dread on the switch, you will now find a new update including new game modes. In the process, you will receive new challenges in the Samus Files section of the menu. You must have completed the main game at least once beforehand. Specifically, you will then find the modes Boss Rush, Survival Rush and Dread Rush.
Boss Rush lets you compete against all 12 bosses in the game one after the other and you have to defeat them in the fastest possible time. You also have to exercise caution, because you take all the damage suffered in a fight with you into the next boss fight, which then becomes more difficult for you. If you die from a boss, you can then continue with this, but you have to live with a time penalty.
If you complete Boss Rush, you can unlock Survival Rush. In this variant there is a five-minute time limit. You get a time credit for defeating a boss, but not only the damage suffered is carried over to the next fight, but also the ammunition spent. Defeating a boss without taking damage gets a bigger time credit. The aim is to defeat as many bosses as possible within the time available.
Dread Rush is similar to Boss Rush mode, but here it’s game over if Samus takes a hit. So far, Dread Rush is the most difficult challenge of the three new modes. To do this, you must first have completed the main game in Dread mode.
