Flight Simulator 2024 isn’t even released yet and is already attracting a lot of attention. Data consumption in particular seems to be a problem for Internet connections.
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 is in the testing phase and is already causing a stir. While flight simulation fans are impatient, some may be surprised by the game’s bandwidth requirements. When flying, data consumption can increase to up to 180 Mbit/s. That’s about 81GB of data per hour. A sobering number, especially for people with limited connections.
Flight Simulator 2024 is easier to install, but…
Luckily it’s not that difficult. Flight Simulator 2024 comes with a much cheaper install size than the 2020 version. The base game only requires 30 GB, compared to 130 to 400 GB Flight Simulator 2020 with all its DLCs. This is good news for gamers who are low on storage space or want to speed up their installation time.
For regular guests of Flight Simulator 2020Bandwidth requirements are not entirely new. In detailed urban areas, such as large cities, consumption already reaches 100 Mbit/s. However, in less densely populated areas it could be almost doubled with this new 2024 version in most rich environments.
This difference could be explained by the reduced size of the game files Flight Simulator 2024 takes up only 9 GB, which is significantly less than the 30 GB planned for the final version. This means more data is streamed from the servers. Furthermore, this increase in bandwidth seems logical given an overall visual improvement and an even more accurate simulation of the planet.
These high bandwidth requirements can be a problem for some gamers. Monthly data caps apply to many Internet subscribers, particularly in the United States. These limits vary between 150 GB and 1 TB depending on the provider and tariff. For those who have limitations, Flight Simulator 2024 could prove difficult to manage. Not to mention those whose internet connection doesn’t reach 180 Mbps.
