You love the single player of Red Dead Redemption 2? But would you like some company sometimes? A modder now offers the right code for this special case. The Mod Companion System
allows you to recruit cronies from your camp and take them with you on your adventures.
So you just casually walk over to Javier, Bill, John, Hosea, Kieran, Sean, Micah, Lenny or Charles, press a button and whoops, you have a companion. The Companions follow you on foot and on horseback, pitch their own tent in your camp, support you in battles and can even be directed with commands.
So you decide whether they should just follow you, persevere or go to a certain place. They also keep you company when fishing and cast their own rod. In the future, developer Bolmin wants to add the character Sadie to the mod.

This is how you install the mod
Do you feel like installing the mod yourself? Unfortunately, this cannot be done via the practical Vortex Manager from Nexusmods, but requires a little more manual work. We help with compact instructions.
- First install Lenny’s Mod Loader (LML). The tool is required. You can download it here.
- Then also install the Mod Script Hook RDR2, which is also required. You can download it here. Now copy the file ScriptHookRDR2.dll directly into the game directory on your hard drive.
- Finally you can use the mod “Companion System” Download on Nexusmods. Extract the archive into your game directory, which should now place the files Companion.asi, Companion.ini and ScriptHookRDR2.dll in your main folder. Then you copy the folder Companion_System into the previously mentioned LML folder. That’s it! Now the mod should run.
What do you think of the mod? Have you always wanted to do more with your camp colleagues or can’t the Wild West be lonely enough for you? Write us in the comments!
