Monster Hunter Wilds runs unusually bad, especially with weaker hardware. A fix is about in the community, which of course we have tested for you.
The latest offshoot of the Monster Hunter series Monster Hunter Wilds
has a spectacular start and can record almost a million active players in the first few hours.
But the game not only offers excellent gameplay, but also a rather dubious performance. The community around Monster Hunter Wilds now wants to have found a fix for these problems. We tried it.
Correct the typo in a game file: solved the problem?
In some articles on Reddit and in forums A fix has been circulating since release, which is intended to improve the performance of Monster Hunter Wilds as a whole. Many speak of an FPS increase of 15 to 25 percent.

The fix: The solution to the performance problems should be easy to correct a typo that can be found in the config file. There is in line 1775 Resoltuion
instead of Resolution
.
We tried it: Some players in the online contributions mentioned suspect a placebo effect behind this option. Unfortunately we suspect the same, because in our tests we do not receive any performance increase by correcting the typing error.
Here is the course of the FPS in a test route in the second area (forest) by Monster Hunter Wilds. As you can see, you don't see anything – so no real difference. At least the fix of the community does not work on our system.
Before the fix and afterwards, the average FPS are 72 and 72.3. So there is no significant difference.
Fortunately, you can save a lot of FPS with some clever tricks in the graphics settings. Have a look at the tuning guide from Sören:
Why is Monster Hunter Wilds so hardware?
In addition to the a lot of criticism, Re-Engine, which likes to cause performance problems in open world games, streaming textures in the VRAM of the graphics card seems to be a bigger problem for the game, as Digital Foundry reports:

Accordingly, even graphics cards with high VRAM are affected by problems such as FPS drops and jerking when turning the camera. Accordingly, some textures do not only look bad, but do not load at all for some graphics cards, such as the Intel ARC A770.
Capcom has one List of options for the troubleshooting and one List with known problems published. Unfortunately, most technical complaints are missing on the list of known problems, such as the performance collapse. However, we hope that Capcom will improve Monster Hunter Wilds' performance by patch.
Have you already played Monster Hunter Wilds? Do you also have problems with the performance or do you run acceptable with you? Please write it to us in the comments and like to call the graphics card you use!
