More mortal shells are coming soon.
Developer Cold Symmetry’s Mortal Shell will undergo an expansion on August 18, which will add a roguelike mode to shuffle the playfulness of Mortal Shell in Fallgrim. It will also add a new shell for players to play in expansion packs and base games. The expanded new trailer shows all the new features.
The new trailer shows the methodical battles of Mortal Shell, but also serves as an extended thematic link, as a woman’s voice asks your character if they are happy that they are not made of flesh and blood. Mortal Shell is centered on the equipable shells you can equip, just like armor sets. She also commented that it is not easy to be killed, which is a recognition of the roguelike nature of expansion.
The virtuous circle randomizes the enemies you encounter and more than 100 new abilities that you can find and suit your play style. You will also get the shell of your former teacher Hadern, which will grant a new skill tree and way of playing the game. Finally, a new transformation weapon, Axetana, switches between an axe and a katana as it says on the tin.
Having extensions that fundamentally change the base game is a great way to add replay value to the game. Given the popularity of roguelike games at the moment, it is wise to make a roguelike mode, especially in action games like Mortal Shell. Facts have proved that Cold Symmetry is very good at keeping the game updated and upgrading to the next-generation console that has been released for free.
Mortal Shell: Virtuous Circle will be launched on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4 and PC through Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG.com on August 18, priced at 7.99 USD/6.99 Euro/6.99 GBP.
