Nvidia appears to be very busy at the beginning of 2024: Rumors have been circulating about one for a few weeks now Super
-Refresh of the RTX 4000 graphics cards. Specifically, these are the models RTX 4070 Super, RTX 4070 Ti Super and RTX 4080 Super, which are expected to be presented at CES 2024 (January 9th to 12th in Las Vegas).
Something is also happening in the entry-level sector: The RTX 3050 is to be relaunched with 6 GB of video memory. It is unclear exactly when the presentation will take place – but the release date is expected to be in February 2024.
So far nothing has been officially confirmed by Nvidia, although the frequency and specificity of the leaks make the existence of the RTX 4000 Super and RTX 3050 6 GB seem highly likely.
It also fits that two manufacturers have now released initial information about their respective portfolios.
RTX 4000 Super: MSI is planning 12 different custom models
According to the portal Videocardz Some online retailers in Switzerland have prematurely listed the custom models from MSI that belong to the RTX 4070 Super, RTX 4070 Ti Super and RTX 4080 Super.
A total of twelve variations await us here, divided into four models per GPU. The product names confirm at least some of the specifications, and the respective price is also mentioned here.
MSI GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER 16G SUPRIM X | 1,355.80 CHF (around 1,450 dollars) |
MSI GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER 16G GAMING X SLIM WHITE | 1,291.10 CHF (around 1,385 dollars) |
MSI GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER 16G GAMING X SLIM | 1,278.20 CHF (around 1,370 dollars) |
MSI GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER 16G WIND 3X OC | 1,230.30 CHF (around 1,320 dollars) |
According to the MSI listings, the RTX 4080 Super’s 16 GB of video memory should finally be confirmed.
The RRP at which the unnamed dealers sell the respective models is a little more exciting: the corresponding custom designs from MSI should cost between 1,320 and 1,450 dollars. Nvidia’s reference model is probably only slightly lower.
According to the dealer entries, the RTX 4070 Ti Super is also expected to have 16 GB of VRAM, and the price seems similarly steep:
MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER 16G GAMING X SLIM WHITE | 1,063.40 CHF (around 1,140 dollars) |
MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER 16G GAMING X SLIM | 1,051.80 CHF (around 1,130 dollars) |
MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super 16G VENTUS 2X White OC | 997.40 CHF (around 1,070 dollars) |
MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super 16G VENTUS 2X OC | 992.30 CHF (around 1,065 dollars) |
The MSI variants of the RTX 4070 Ti Super should also break the 1,000 euro barrier. Assuming that MSI is generally a little more expensive than Nvidia’s reference design, there is at least hope that Nvidia will still set its own RRP in the three-digit range.
The cheapest of the three super models will of course be the RTX 4070 Super, which will probably be the first to celebrate its official release. The four custom cards from MSI are identical to the corresponding Ti version in terms of series, but as expected they have “only” 12 GB of video memory.
MSI GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER 12G GAMING X SLIM WHITE | 848.70 CHF (around 910 dollars) |
MSI GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER 12G GAMING X SLIM | 837.00 CHF (around 900 dollars) |
MSI GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER 12G VENTUS 2X WHITE OC | 782.70 CHF (around 840 dollars) |
MSI GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER 12G VENTUS 2X OC | 777.50 CHF (around 835 dollars) |
The slight increase in CUDA cores of the RTX 4070 Super compared to the regular graphics card is passed on to the customer in a similar way in terms of price.
As a reminder: With 7,168 CUDA cores, the RTX 4070 Super has around 20 percent more than the non-Super version – the latter was released by Nvidia with an RRP of 659 dollars, also a difference of around 20 percent compared to expected dealer prices.
This will likely shatter any hopes that Nvidia will bring the new super graphics cards onto the market at least at the same RRP as the “predecessors” and thus as a “customer-friendly new edition”.
33 (!) Gigabyte models for RTX 4000 Super discovered
Gigabyte seems to be completely convinced of the success of the super graphics cards. In the EEC database The Eurasian Economic Commission has a whopping 33 custom boards for the upcoming GPUs.
The following names can be found in each of the three portfolios for the RTX 4070 Super, RTX 4070 Ti Super and RTX 4080 Super:
Gigabyte RTX SUPER AORUS MASTER
Gigabyte RTX SUPER AERO
Gigabyte RTX SUPER GAMING
Gigabyte RTX SUPER EAGLE
Gigabyte RTX SUPER WINDFORCE
With the exception of the “Aorus Master”, all of Gigabyte’s custom designs listed above are available in an OC and non-OC edition.
Individual models also seem to be exclusive to the respective GPUs. The RTX 4080 Super, for example, is the only one to receive a “Windforce V2” variant.
The two super variations of the RTX 4070 receive a previously unreleased “Eagle Ice” model, which is also available in an OC and non-OC edition. To what extent this differs from the Eagle portfolio known from previous GPUs is unclear, as this is probably a completely new series.
The RTX 4070 Super (without Ti) is also the only one with an additional “Aorus Elite”. In contrast to the MSI leak, no information about the price has appeared here, although it is likely to be marginally lower than the equivalent models.

RTX 3050 6 GB: Gigabyte also confirms the new “budget” GPU
Somewhat surprisingly, Gigabyte’s EEC entry also provides insights into the supposedly planned 6 GB version of the RTX 3050, which Nvidia probably has in its kitty as a new entry-level GPU.
The manufacturer explicitly names a total of six custom models that are to be released. In addition to an RTX 3050 6 GB without an additional name, a Windforce and Eagle model are also mentioned.
All three RTX 3050 GPUs from Gigabyte are also available as OC and non-OC versions, similar to the Super designs. However, no specific specifications or prices can be found in the listing.
This means that the previously expected technical data and a supposed price of less than 200 dollars remain with the RTX 3050 6 GB. However, these details are unlikely to make any customer happy about the supposed release in February 2024, as you can read in the following article:
Now we need your opinion: At least 800 dollars for the RTX 4070 Super and four-digit amounts for the Ti version and RTX 4080 Super – is the supposed RRP of the MSI models too high to convince you? Do you think Gigabyte’s huge portfolio makes sense? Let us know in the comments!
