MSI Claw: New handheld PC has a release date

After the success of handheld PCs like Steam Deck or ASUS ROG Ally, MSI also wanted to play in the league and announced the MSI Claw, which now has a launch date.

MSI will soon enter the competitive handheld gaming PC market. Steam Deck, ASUS ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion Go have already made their presence felt in the sector and MSI apparently didn’t want to be left behind anymore.

The MSI Claw Gaming Handheld was announced at CES in January, but at the time there was no date. That is now apparently changing, because MSI has now confirmed the first dates, at least for the USA.

Accordingly, March 8th is the official launch date for the first batch of devices. Delivery from the MSI Store is scheduled to start on March 12th, with the first dealers starting on March 15th. The release date certainly seems to apply worldwide, because in the German MSI Store At least the 512 GB version is already marked “in stock” and some retailers have already noted “expected mid-March” in their stores.

Apparently the MSI Claw will come onto the market in two versions – a model with a 512 GB SSD for 829 dollars, and a 1 TB model for 949 dollars.

What’s exciting about the Claw is that MSI doesn’t rely on an AMD solution, but instead uses the new Intel Core Ultra processor. With its eight cores, integrated Intel Arc graphics and XESS upscaling technology, MSI wants to bring even current blockbusters in 1080p resolution to the 7-inch touch display with 120 Hz. The Intel processor’s media engine also accelerates modern video codecs such as AV1, H.265 and VP9, ensuring an efficient streaming experience.
