Nintendo Switch is a very particular console. On the one hand we have the great first party games that characterize the company so much, but it has also become immensely popular as a machine for indie titles and remastering of old games.
The one that concerns us today is one of the latter. First released in 2001 for the original Xbox, Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee It is the third installment of the Oddworld saga, which many will remember by the mythical Abe's Oddysee from PS1. Now, Munch's odyssey prepares for land on Nintendo Switch next May 14.
It will come from the hand of its original creators, Oddworld Inhabitants, and the publisher Microids. Among its new functions we will find a HD image remastering and a performance that works at 60 FPS, as expected. More or less the same as in previous reissues of the same title.
In this adventure we control both Munch and Abe. The puzzle and platform dynamics of the first two iterations are maintained, but this time in three-dimensional environments, with a greater emphasis on action, and cooperative mechanics between the two little characters. That is, it is played individually, but there are puzzles that require coordination between the two to overcome them.
At the moment It will only be available in digital format through the eShop, although they promise that a physical version will be released throughout 2020.
