The former world number one, winner in the flesh in the Spanish capital (2008 and 2015), won the Belgian final David Goffin after having notably Rafael Nadal by the way. In the absence of the adrenaline of the big matches, all the players showed their sense of winning throughout the tournament, participating in the general good humor. Some showed their bad faith during their reverses, accusing their controller or their lack of training, others went so far as to dress specially for the occasion and reproduce the identical all the rituals inherent in this discipline.
But the main thing was elsewhere for the organizers of this competition. The two laureates each pocketed 150,000 euros, intended to finance the solidarity fund created to help the players most in financial difficulty due to the end of the season. A sum which is added 50,000 euros intended to reduce the social impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
