It’s 6pm, time for our roundup of the news you don’t want to miss. Between an unexpected collaboration between the Days Gone studio and Naughty Dog and a patent to end the difficulty debate, we take a look at the JV roundup for Thursday, December 21, 2023.
Soon news about the new project from the father of Dead Space
Glen Schofield is known as the father of Dead Space, but also as the father of the studio Striking Distance Studios, which he founded together with Michael Condrey. This studio is the one that recently gave us the Dead Space-esque The Callisto Protocol. But unfortunately the title was received disappointingly. So much so that Schofield decided to leave the studio a few months ago “Pursuing new opportunities”
Even though I took some time off, I was very busy and not just drawing. Something in games that is new and exciting. I can’t wait to share more after the new year!

After 10 years of Early Access, this game from the creator of Fable has been removed from Steam
Do you know Godus? This is one of the projects of Peter Molyneux, the father of Fable, but also an “inveterate liar” for many. And it has to be said that Godus is more of a fraud than a genius. 10 years of Early Access and $730,000 raised via a Kickstarter campaign… All this for a game whose ambitions have been significantly scaled back and development abandoned for many years. Just see the game’s Steam page to understand that the players didn’t really like this. This controversial title is a textbook case and is now no longer available on Steam, just like its little cousin Godus Wars.
Naughty Dog is reportedly working on a new project with the developers of Days Gone
Recently, the Naughty Dog studio made headlines with a very sad news: the simple cancellation of the multiplayer game project in the universe of [id:42999 The Last of Us]. But after bad news, sometimes good news comes. Insider Gaming seems to point out that this is what it says Naughty Dog is reportedly working with Bend Studio (Days Gone) on an unannounced project. This information comes from the LinkedIn account of one Adam Lawson. Maybe a (long-awaited by fans) sequel to Days Gone? Nothing is less certain…
After mass harassment, Final Fantasy fans are starting a movement full of love for a legendary screenwriter
Recently, screenwriter Kazushige Nojima (Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy VII Remake…) reported the harassment. The latter has been exacerbated recently due to the focus on Aerith in the Final Fantasy VII Rebirth trailer shown at the 2023 Game Awards. Luckily, some players don’t participate in this harassment. Better yet, a few days ago they decided to send a wave of love to the game developers via the hashtag Thank youFFVIIDevs. A beautiful move that allows us to have a little faith in humanity again and that will hopefully warm Nojima’s heart.
Dear FFVII developers, thank you for all the sweet moments in the game. FF7 is one of my favorite games ever! Your hard work, dedication and love for the game is truly inspiring. I love you all! You are great! 😍☁️🎀🩷#ThankYouFFVIIDevs 🩷 pic.twitter.com/Fy04ii8ycf

Finally, the end of the video game difficulty war with this new patent from Sony?
The debate over video game difficulty is clearly a touchy subject. Every time it is revived, it pits two bitterly opposing camps against each other without ever truly finding common ground. Well, maybe Sony has found the solution that allows everyone to get along: adaptive difficulty. We find this in a new patent that Sony has just filed. The idea is to forego difficulty modes and offer a difficulty level that adapts to players’ real-time performance. So when a game becomes difficult, it is adjusted for each player so that it is difficult without being insurmountable. We can’t wait to see if this technology really sees the light of day.
Only $500 profit for this video game from the creators of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, a real disaster!
Insomniac Games recently suffered an unprecedented leak that turned developers’ lives upside down, and not for the better. In addition to all the data released about the games currently in production at the studio, sensitive information was also released. And in the midst of all this lull, some have unearthed some rather unlikely information: the game Sunset Overdrive only earned the studio $567. Nevertheless, the game was well received by critics and gamers… But the 1.8 million units sold were not enough to enable Insomniac Games to make a real profit with the title.
The summary is over for today, I wish you a nice evening and see you tomorrow!
