In Dying Light 2 there was recently a big patch that solved many problems. We also reported on how the update improves the zombie title. However, some nerfs were also secretly installed that were not mentioned in the patch notes. We summarize for you why the fans on Reddit are so angry.
If you are interested in the optics and can’t get enough of ray tracing, our colleague Nils Rättig has written a detailed article for you using Dying Light 2 as an example:

Where the ray tracing journey should go – and where not
What has been changed?
Korek Charm Too Expensive: With patch 1.2.0, some nerfs were made in addition to all the improvements. It’s the worst of it Korek pendant affected. If you could previously repair your weapons with the trailer quite easily, it now costs a whopping 666 parts. In addition, the weapon is repaired 200 points less.
This is particularly annoying for many players, since there is no other method in Dying Light 2 to repair their weapons and this is why they are bound to break at some point. While the Korek Pendant was only intended as an Easter egg, it quickly became a true favorite among items.
On Reddit, players are far from happy, especially since lead designer Tymon Smektala previously tweeted that he would not change anything about the pendant.

Grappling hook less useful: Furthermore, the grappling hook has been given a cooldown, which should ensure that it is no longer so carefree swinging through the air. Speedrunners in particular have used the tactic to create the craziest times for a playthrough.
Not everyone is critical of this change, however, as the grappling hook also threw up the parkour system by spending less time climbing and jumping to get from A to B.
Harder to find endgame loot: And last but not least, the loot boxes in the district where you can drain the water went to the collar. The boxes reappeared after a while before the patch and could be looted again and again. This has also changed, as the crates now remain empty.

This is how you unlock the sunken district
Coupled with the Korek Pendant nerf, this is particularly tragic given that the Sunken City was the only place players could previously find level 9 gear. Since a repair is currently incredibly expensive, weapons will break over time, which is why you should have a rather bad chance of getting the coveted endgame items afterwards.
This is how the fans react
Der User RapidRanger66 does not find the changes too bad and rather criticizes the lack of communication of the nerfs. Although he also finds the repair costs too expensive, he would also be satisfied with lower costs:
I’m not against the change but about the way it was patched. Since they quietly patched it and didn’t let people know, that bothers me now. And yes, 666 junk is too much.

The changes regarding the grappling hook are not received negatively by all fans. the user Sly’ writes on Twitter that the grappling hook destroyed the parcour system and partly made the game too easy:
Disputed Opinion: The grappling hook was too strong and destroyed the parkour. I’m glad they changed it as this thing was easy to get through the game
But criticism also hails from the speed runner camp. the user AussieGG complains that all previous speedrun routes are becoming obsolete and a lot of work is lost:
The grappling hook’s nerf completely threw the speedrunning community upside down. We really need him back the way he is or we have to deal with having all past runs either wiped from the boards or patched down to 1.06 of the game. This is quite frustrating for a lot of people.
Many fans are correspondingly angry with these hidden changes, which is why this topic has dominated the Dying Light 2 subreddit for days. The Reddit user TheTexen criticizes above all that it is now extremely difficult to get the coveted endgame loot and to be able to keep it:
So brace yourself… Rumor has it that the lost city chests will no longer respawn, which is the only reliable way to get decent weapons and gear…. …And if you happen to get lucky and find a decent weapon, it’s about to become ridiculous Cost lots of scrap lest she break with the Korek charm!

That’s what the developers say
Improvement is in sight: On the official discord the community manager Uncy spoke up and assured that a patch should come in the coming days that should make the Korek trailer usable again. The remaining nerfs have not yet been discussed.
Hey! We hear you – you love the Korek charm and want to keep using it, so we’ll be making some improvements to the charm in the upcoming patches that will make it even better for the player. Stay wonderful and keep giving us your feedback!

The lead designer has also spoken out and promised the same changes. It is interesting, however, that the chief developer apparently did not know anything about the Korek nerf of the last patch. Now he wants to make an effort to restore the original functions:

Now that the developers have backtracked on the Korek pendant, it’s safe to assume that it’ll be more useful again soon. In this guide we show you where to get it:
