Netflix has released a pair of trailers that give us our first proper look at its upcoming live-action movie resident Evil series.
Earlier this week, Netflix gave us a closer look at its next Resident Evil project, which focuses on series mainstay Albert Wesker. The first trailer introduces us to Billie and Jade, new characters from the franchise and Wesker’s children. It shows them entering New Raccoon City in 2022, then shows how the world is devastated by the T virus pandemic, with a time jump set in 2036.
The second trailer sheds more light on how the pandemic started. Unsurprisingly, the blame lies with Umbrella Corporation, although this time it’s due to the company’s attempt to sell a drug called “Joy.”
Before Wesker described its benefits, the miracle drug was introduced by an overly friendly-looking CGI bear. It’s an antidepressant that’s said to cure obsessive-compulsive disorder, reduce anxiety, and increase concentration, but for some reason, of course, the drug contains the T virus, because history is doomed to repeat itself.
While the first trailer mostly set the way the world goes to shit, the second trailer is all about monsters. You have your classic zombie dog, some kind of screaming humanoid, and a very big, very disgusting mutant caterpillar.
It’s unclear how the show will be divided between the two timelines, but it looks like more of the focus may be on Wesker’s children than on the virologist himself. The show also runs separately from any other shows, so don’t expect it to be tied to any other shows you might have watched or streamed.
and judging by how good Resident Evil Village Sold, and the show might be a hit too, especially with Lance Redick as Albert Wesker.
