Avatar 2 doesn’t stop there and is on the verge of breaking a historic record. James Cameron walks on his own toes, it had to be done. However, the film finds a way to disappoint in the US.
DuringAvatar 2: The Way of Water Having recently surpassed the symbolic threshold of 2 billion, the film now surpasses the highest-grossing films in history one after the other. And even if director James Cameron has already met all his goals with flying colours, he can now aim for the top 3 and finally make history. Guess that’s what happened. And yet everything is not so glorious, if we are to believe the very first estimates.
Avatar 2 sets box office records…
Whether we like it or not Avatar 2: The Way of Water literally atomizes the box office by chaining records together. After a slow start, especially because of the World Cup, the film picked up speed and never stopped. marvel movies, Top Gun Maverick and other record-breaking feature films have all given way to the James Cameron memorial. avatar 2 is now the fourth highest-grossing film in all of cinema history at just $100 million titanic and its 2.2 billion. So Cameron is on the verge of beating his own record, a historic record since then, by the way titanic is the oldest film of all the top 10. We find it special around it avatar (2009) in first place with $2.89 billion, Avengers Endgame and his $2.80 billion in second place, or STar Wars 7 (2.07 billion), which was just relegated to fifth place.
… but is much more shy than expected in the USA
On American territory, on the other hand, the film is disappointing, even if, paradoxically, it still breaks records. avatar 2 just surpassed star wars 7 by surpassing the $620 million bar and is now aiming for the first avenger and its 623 million. It’s a very nice score. However, given world-scale records and initial estimates, it should have literally exploded everything in its path, and it is not.
From the beginning, avatar 2 struggled to get off the ground and even turned out to be very disappointing, well below the successful director’s expectations. James Cameron will also later explain that he apparently “miscalculated his profitability”. Skill on national soil remains beautiful, but much less conspicuous than on a global scale. Because with his recipes on American soil, Avatar 2: The Way of Water will only just make it into the top 10 of the highest-grossing films, where it should have been for weeks if you believe the first forecasts. Everyone has their problems and frustrations.
