The world of LEGO is far less mysterious than video games, which means it’s normal for the first news of upcoming LEGO sets to creep up on the internet thanks to retailers and the like. The same is true for the next wave LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog Set, expected to arrive in August.
LEGO Sonic currently consists of seven sets, plus four brick figurines and the old glorious LEGO Ideas sets – but in August, three new traditional playsets will become available, making the blue blur truly impressive Lego footprints reaches ten sets.
News about these sets broke through a German retailer and was quickly confirmed by LEGO experts like the folks at Brick Fanatics.
this Supersonics vs. Egg Rig The playset introduces the only new minifigure character in the series – a version of Super Sonic. Super Sonic also comes with his own yellow ball and launcher – the toy’s design is that you drop Sonic into the ball like a hamster and then launch it at the bad guys, knocking them away or smashing them to pieces.
The thing you’re about to break down is the titular Egg Rig, which looks to be at least loosely based on one of Robotnik’s boss appearances from Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Although slightly different in appearance, the boss mecha in the Emerald Mountain area has the same name as this LEGO product.
The set also features Shadow’s side builds, including the Sonic Adventure 2/Heroes era Badnik and a small section of terrain with a slightly aggressive road vibe. Eggman can drill through terrain to disintegrate it, and you can shoot supersonics at the drill to defeat the evil doctor. The complete set contains 590 pieces and costs 79.99 dollars.
The second group is Tails’ Adventure Ship, for some reason there was a ship in it. This time it was Tails who got the launcher, which he could launch from the ship docked to him while Sonic paraglided behind. There’s a Bad Nick, and a small side building reminiscent of the Green Mountain Strip. The set contains 393 pieces and costs 54.99 dollars.
at last, Knuckles and the Master of the Emerald Temple is a new set that replicates the Master Emerald Shrine on Angel Island, though it’s closer to the look from Sonic Adventure than the iconic Hidden Palace look from Sonic & Knuckles. The set includes side figures of grinning Amy, Knuckles, and the Eggbot seen in Sonic & Knuckles. A leak from LEGO World suggests that the set will come in 325 pieces and have a suggested retail price of $34.99.
While the series only contains one new minifigure – Super Sonic – several of the characters here have new and unique facial patterns – meaning if you want a Raging Knuckles, for some reason, This new Jade Shrine Master Set is where you’ll find him.
All three sets will arrive in August. LEGO plays a bit more fast and loose with release dates, but typically new releases are released on the first of the month.
