The end is near. The search for Tyr is coming to an end. Kratos is forced to confront the sins of his past, the blood on his hands. Atreus was forced to watch. Ragnarok is coming in November, and ahead of the game’s eagerly anticipated release date, Sony has shown what may be the game’s most revealing trailer yet.
The trailer, which debuted on tonight’s State of Play livestream, includes pre-rendered scenes and in-engine gameplay, giving us a great taste of the Nordic father-son duo later this year.
Take a look below.
The trailer is packed with people (presumably gods) who can’t shut up around a big angry warmonger. It looks like the story is about to mature, and people have Kratos confronting the legacy of destruction he left behind.
The end of the Norse saga, which begins a few years after the events of God of War (2018). The interactions between father and son are going to be a bit complicated, especially with the revelation of Atreus’ giant legacy and the “hidden prophecy seen only by Kratos.” In this trailer, it’s clear the boy is keeping a secret from his old man – will the two end up fighting? Only time will tell.
In addition to this sensual audio-visual enjoyment, we also learned that we’ll be getting a special-edition DualSense controller with the same release date as the game (November 9). It’s blue and white, in keeping with the game’s color scheme, and adorned with the wolf and bear logos you’ll know from the game on the trackpad.
That pad also has a trailer, which you can see below.
