Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl uses the powerful Unreal Engine 5.
Stalker 2 wants to blow our socks off with Unreal 5 power. And if the shooter really does look as good as a handful of new screenshots promise, then we’re ready to go barefoot.
The pictures show how many details are in the open world and the weapon models. Of course, this doesn’t yet tell you how comfortable the guns feel in game – but wow, they look nice:
What can you see on the screenshots?
Let’s go through the images one by one:
Picture 1 shows boathouses together with stranded boats. Apparently someone had a snack here recently, there are still leftovers in the middle. An ax is stuck in the log on the right, firewood is stacked next to it. The mood lighting is particularly chic: the sun’s rays illuminate the wafts of mist over the small lake directly ahead. And also reflect very nicely on our double-barreled shotgun.
In picture 2 we’re reloading – probably not a bad idea given the mutant pack below us. A larger animal is surrounded by smaller, canine creatures. Forewarning: In Stalker 2 we expect some really nasty nightmare opponents.

Stalker 2: New Sign of Life is horror for all cat lovers
Image 3 looks more peaceful again, we trudge through the zone with two companions. The houses here are derelict and overgrown. And how good does the plant world look? The details of grass, moss and trees appear almost photo-realistic.
We’re stuck at the last picture in the middle of a fight, we have already shot down the enemy in front of us, behind the crates there are at least two others waiting to make acquaintance with us. Nice detail: Empty cases fly out of our submachine gun in the far right corner.

Stalker 2 has a spectacular new trailer: The world and story are so dark
All of the screenshots have this too minimalist player HUD recognizable: Quests or important places are marked with an orange exclamation mark, a radioactive symbol stands for contaminated areas or sources of radiation. In battle, the compass bar turns red and small arrows show roughly where our enemies are. Of course we need the classic ammo display on the bottom right, our life energy bar is displayed on the left – but apparently only in combat.
