Actually, the new video from Diablo’s YouTube channel wasn’t about the gameplay at all, but about a promotion where fans could get free Diablo-themed tattoos. Eagle-eyed viewers still caught an important detail in the few seconds they watched the game. Here you can find out why Diablo 4 could strike a middle ground between its two predecessors.
Lawsuit against Activision Blizzard
Activision Blizzard is currently facing a lawsuit alleging sexism and unequal treatment of female employees. If the grievances play a role in your purchase decision, we have summarized all the information on the sexism lawsuit in a detailed article for you. You can read our attitude and consequences to the processes in a leading article on the Blizzard scandal by GameStar editor-in-chief Heiko Klinge.
By the way, as Diablo experts you still have the chance to try out the new game for yourself during a closed beta in November. You might also meet the metal band Blind Guardian there, because they are gigantic Diablo nerds:

Builds und Gear in Diablo 4
Specifically, it’s about how Diablo 4 handles the balance between the build, i.e. the skillful selection of different skills, and the strength of the equipment. In Diablo 2, for example, the main thing was to choose a particularly strong build. Classes like Sorceress could become incredibly powerful regardless of their gear.
Diablo 3, on the other hand, put more emphasis on the right equipment. Skills scaled very effectively with weapon damage there. Strong abilities dealt roughly several thousand percent weapon damage. That’s why it made sense to select gear based on DPS only. Diablo 4 now seems to take the middle ground between the two predecessors.
The new video briefly shows a skill and its description. lightning spear
caused at the beginning 15 percent weapon damage pro Treffer. Reddit-User SwaghettiYolonese thinks sothat the low weapon damage scaling compared to Diablo 3 could solve a big problem of the predecessor:
[…] It solves an issue with the items in Diablo 3.
As an example: 15 percent of 100 DPS (damage per second) is only 15 damage more for the skill. So don’t immediately pick a weapon just because it has 50 more DPS, as that only adds a meager 7 damage to the skill. Instead, you must factor in their affixes, stats, and other passive abilities.
In Diablo, on the other hand, the skills scaled into the thousands with weapon damage. If your skill does 1000 percent weapon damage out of 100, then you’ll pick up a small DPS benefit right away as well. In practice, this significantly narrows the choices and makes weapons boring. I’m glad they found a good middle ground between Diablo 2 and 3.
Whether the skill shown reflects the rule or shows an exception is of course not foreseeable at the moment. However, such a middle ground would fit Blizzard’s statements. That’s how you spoke in one Update to Diablo 4 only recently that the strength of the player should again depend more on the character and its build. Objects should no longer play the main role, but should not be meaningless.
What’s new in Diablo 4?
Recently, a large gameplay leak with an hour of video material attracted attention. But the developers themselves keep making headlines, especially when it comes to the planned microtransactions, which also go against the grain for you. In a video, Maurice analyzed in detail how far the in-game shop goes:

So while details like the scaling of skills give some fans hope, after Diablo Immortal there are also many worries about the next game in the series. Also Sascha fears that Diablo 4 might not be for him at all.
What do you think of the new details on skill scaling? Do you also see a healthy middle ground between Diablo 2 and 3? Or would you have wished for something else? Write your opinion in the comments!
