The initial hype about New World has meanwhile flattened out, but Amazon Games is of course continuing to work on the MMORPG. The big update “Heart of Madness” is to follow in March, bringing the main story to an end.
Starting today, the new features of the major update “Heart of Madness” are available in the New World Public Test Area (PTR) for a limited number of players, but later this month the patch will also be available for all players of the MMORPG in the live version. The focus is then also on the end of the previous main storyline.
In the main story quests, you track Isabella back to Cracked Mountain, where an epic final confrontation now awaits. You must venture into the heart of the Stormwind as you venture into a corrupted dimension of reality via the capital city of Direhome. There you can explore secrets from Isabella’s past. The endgame expedition is designed for five players with level 60 and an armor value of 550 or more.
This is joined by a new ranged weapon, the blunderbuss, which gives you high mobility and powerful damage at short and medium distances. It’s the premier weapon that scales with strength and intelligence, making it a good choice for brawlers or mages.
Adventurers have two weapon skill trees to choose from, each leading to very different playstyles.
The containment tree is all about getting close to the enemy and shooting a load of lead in their face.
In contrast, the Chaos Tree keeps you at a distance and unleashes explosive area-of-effect attacks.
In addition to the blunderbuss as a new weapon, there is also a new quest line for legendary weapons. Once you’ve reached level 60 and maxed out your skill with the new gun, you should seek out Wang Tang Zhi in Equal to begin this epic quest.
Rounding out the update are game balance changes; a large number of weapons are said to be affected by this. There are also lots of bug fixes.
