Nicolas Cage can look back on a busy past as an actor, having taken on roles across all genres. He has played a pig lover, a treasure hunter, a heartthrob, a gunfighter and Superman himself.

Cage even portrayed himself in a film. But one dream remains unfulfilled to this day: to play in Star Trek! The signs that this will work at some point may not be so bad after all.

What does Cage say about Star Trek? The actor recently came out as a Trekkie once again. Opposite Screenrant He also reveals that there have already been loose discussions:

There were a few telephone conversations. I don’t know, I would have to see a script first. It would have to be something that I could put my own stamp on, that had a bit of pizzazz and a certain spark. I wouldn’t want to just do anything because I have so much love for the franchise.

Nicolas Cage also has a specific location in mind where he would like to begin his service with Starfleet: the iconic USS Enterprise.

I want to be on the Enterprise. Ideally, I would need to be on the Enterprise in some capacity. I don’t want to float in space on a satellite! I want to be on the bridge, but they have to [ein Konzept] bring to me.

Picard boss already has a role for Nicolas Cage

Nicolas Cage has already found a great advocate for his time on the Enterprise: Terry Matalas, screenwriter and showrunner of the Star Trek series Picard, was opposite on the red carpet at the Saturn Awards Screenrant already revealed his idea for the role of Cage:

I have no idea, but I know I would kill for it. […] I would like to make him a villain. That would be extraordinary. Star Trek is known for its really strong, interesting, superhuman villains, and [Nicolas Cage] Watching him shake things up on a spaceship would be pretty spectacular. […]

Nicolas Cage as a lively villain in a Star Trek film? Many fans of the actor, famous for his overacting, would probably sign immediately. Trekkie fans, however, might have doubts as to whether Cage’s mostly extroverted game fits the more serious franchise.

Ultimately, Terry Matalas doesn’t have a say in this decision either. Matalas is not said to be involved in Star Trek 4 (JJ Abrams’ reboot series), which is currently reportedly in production.

So fans of Star Trek and Nicolas Cage will have to wait and drink Acamarian brandy. After all, in the next few years, in addition to the rumored Star Trek 4, they will also get an almost forgotten spin-off and another film from a Star Wars director.

It’s not just Nicolas Cage who dreams of Star Trek. Cult director Quentin Tarantino also had serious plans for his own film, but then rejected them for a bizarre reason.
