Will NieR 3 be announced soon? The creator just left several mysterious messages to announce the sequel and fans have gone completely crazy!
Yoko Taro won’t dwell on the success of NieR: Automata. With more than 8 million sales, especially thanks to its release on Nintendo Switch, the title has brought some visibility and renewed popularity to its license. However, you still have to admit that the franchise hasn’t had much success since then. The NieR (first name of the name) remake, called Replicant, received positive reviews but couldn’t match the performance of Automata. Mobile games have struggled to attract attention.
Recently we even learned that a previously unofficial software was discontinued by the Tencent studio. However, the latter had managed to see a playable technical demo with narrative and combat, proof that development was well advanced. However, Yoko Taro is far from done with her baby, as this fascinating news proves.
NieR 3 is coming soon?
On social networks, Yoko Taro is rather talkative and always very secretive. He regularly posts thank yous to his fans as well as photos of food. A fulfilled life! However, this time a mysterious message attracted particular attention: r3incarnationan. Technically it means nothing, but fans still see it as an announcement of a new episode of the saga: NieR 3.
If we try to decipher a little, we find that we can almost form the word “reincarnation”, obviously with the number 3 sticking the flea in the ear. Note that this is not the first time the director has done this. A few days ago the word “R3PENT”
Let’s get out the tweezers!
But be careful! You should take these messages with caution because Yoko Taro is also known as a prankster. There is also already a game called NieR: Reincarnation, which is one of the mobile offshoots of the license. However, the latter will cease its services in April 2024, two years after its launch. It’s possible that “r3incarnationan” is just an homage to the game on the part of its creator, although it seems a bit early for that.
At this point, this does not explain why the number three appears. On the fansite they are wondering if this means that the end of Reincarnation is actually tied to the beginning of a possible NieR 3. And what does this R3PENT mean? Lots of questions and few (actually no) answers. But we’re keeping our eyes open. What is certain is that Yoko Taro continues to express the desire to create a sequel if the audience wants it. And from here the question doesn’t even arise.
