New Look at Ninja Gaiden 4

At this year’s Xbox Developer Direct, fans were treated to a welcome surprise:

—alongside a shadow drop of Ninja Gaiden 2 Black

.

The game, which will be available on Game Pass from day one, is being developed through a collaboration between Team Ninja and PlatinumGames, with support from Microsoft.

Ninja Gaiden 4 is set to be one of this fall’s flagship releases, and as a preview, a new video has just been released showing off its intense gameplay.

New Trailer Shows Yakumo and Ryu in Action

Team Ninja’s official X (Twitter) account has posted a trailer for the upcoming entry in the franchise, featuring both Yakumo and Ryu Hayabusa in action.

Yakumo, a young ninja who joins the series for the first time, demonstrates a technique called Bloodravenwhich allows him to manipulate both his own blood and that of his enemies.

With this powerful ability, Yakumo can move through the battlefield at superhuman speeds, string together combos, and leave no enemies standing.

Gore Returns in Full Force

Far from the censorship that has occasionally affected the Ninja Gaiden series, this fourth entry fully embraces blood and gore, with spectacular decapitations during combat.

Ninja Gaiden 4 brings back:

  • Decapitations
  • Graphic violence during gameplay

The Dead or Alive ninja may be less agile than Yakumo, but he makes up for it with much more powerful and forceful attacks, staying true to his previous appearances.

Combat Emphasizes Skill-Based Mechanics

The new trailer puts a strong emphasis on the game’s demanding controls—particularly blocking and parrying, which, while difficult to master, will be crucial for survival.

A single misstep can mean death in Ninja Gaiden 4. After all, the developers have spent years fine-tuning this combat system.

Of course, classic techniques like Flying Swallow and Izuna drop are back, and both characters will be able to use them.

A New Era After 13 Years

The two warriors won’t exactly be best friends. Yakumo, a member of the Nue clan, seeks to surpass Ryu—something the franchise’s main hero won’t take lightly.

A showdown between the two ninjas is inevitable, and their battle is expected to be one of the highlights of the game.

Thirteen years after the last installment, Ninja Gaiden 4 will have to live up to the likes of Stellar Blade and Black Myth: Wukong. But more importantly, it must prove it still deserves its place as one of gaming’s great action sagas.
