There was certainly great disappointment among Nintendo fans when it was recently announced that the Nintendo Switch 2 would no longer be released in 2024, but rather in 2025. This was reported by several renowned magazines and online sites, each citing their own separate sources. There is now supposed further information about the exact background to this release postponement.
The Japanese news magazine Nikkei has now published a new report that goes into more detail about the internal postponement of the Switch 2 from 2024 to the beginning of 2025. In this context, there is also talk of a planned publication in March 2025 – i.e. towards the end of the first quarter of 2025. Depending on the manufacturing processes, this plan could be delayed again. But why was the 2024 release shelved?
According to information from the reputable Japanese magazine, the postponement to the new year has two reasons: On the one hand, Nintendo wants to offer a sufficiently large software line-up directly at the launch of the platform and thus ensure that there is enough game fodder available at the start of sales. On the other hand, the delay is intended to ensure that sufficient quantities of the new hardware can be produced and that there is no shortage of hardware supply at launch.
Otherwise it works Nikkei further rumors about the console successor once again: The Switch 2 is said to be a hybrid device similar to the Switch, which can therefore be used on the go or at home. The larger screen compared to the previous Switch is also mentioned again and is probably a done deal.
