Will Nintendo finally officially introduce the Switch 2 this week? The signs seem to be increasing!
There have been a lot of leaks about the Nintendo Switch 2 recently, but an official presentation from the Japanese is still pending. However, this may change this week – at least signs of this seem to be increasing in the rumor mill.
After a leaker who was reliable in the past recently brought a release date for Mario Kart 9 (and thus the console itself) into play, he named January 17, 2025 as a potential presentation date by Nintendo. An official confirmation of this is still pending, but now there is a second renowned and reliable leaker who follows a similar line.
In this case, what is meant is NateTheHate, who is considered to be particularly well connected and takes up the topic in today's new podcast edition. According to NateTheHate, citing unnamed sources, the Switch 2 will be presented a day earlier, namely on Thursday, January 16, 2025.
in case it wasn’t obvious from my tease in Notepad last week, I’ve heard it should be the Switch 2 reveal this week 👍 https://t.co/2m3ZEW2kyf

This would also fit well in another respect: In the past, Nintendo has always made major announcements on a Thursday. For example, the first teaser for the original Switch in 2016 was presented on a Thursday, October 20, 2016.
And it gets even better: Shortly after NateTheHate's podcast went online, Tom Warren from The Verge, also a well-connected insider in the gaming industry, also spoke up and confirmed that he had also heard that the Switch 2 was being introduced for the scheduled for the current week.
A lot of information about the Switch 2 is probably already widely known thanks to the numerous leaks. The new console will probably have a larger display, the Joy-Cons have been revised and now attach magnetically, and the controllers also have an additional C button. The biggest mystery is actually the launch line-up, because which titles will be available at launch is still largely unclear – apart from the ongoing rumors about Mario Kart 9.
We will of course keep you updated on further developments!
