Immediately after the release of the original Switch, Nintendo started working on the successor Switch 2. When the new hardware appears in June, it has been on its belt for many years.
With the Nintendo Switch, the Japanese had once again hit a direct hit in 2017, because the console sold bread like cut – but Nintendo did not want to rest on the laurels. Rather, the view was obviously quite quickly.
As some documents as part of a legal dispute between Nintendo and the Accessoires manufacturer Genki now reveal, Nintendo has started working on the Switch 2 quickly after the Switch release. In the documents in question it says:
“Shortly after the release of the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo has started to plan the successor console. The formal hardware development began around 2019,” it says before the court document sets on the description of the new console: “The Nintendo Switch 2 uses the same hybrid home-& handheld model of the original Nintendo Switch, but with improved processor performance, but with improved processor performance, but with improved processor a larger screen, new chat and social features and improved Joy-Con-2 controllers who now have a new mouse function. “
Basically, it seems to be clear for quite a long time, as the Switch 2 finally looks; Nintendo has only treated itself to quite many years to work out the new hardware down to the last detail. The console was not confirmed until January 2025, the detailed performance in April 2025. On June 5, 2025, the time has finally come and the Switch 2 will be in the shops.
