With the Switch, Nintendo has made a real precision landing. The mobile console has now even ousted an enormously successful competitor from its place.
Since its release in March 2017, the Nintendo Switch has cleared a lot and has had a real success story. In the meantime, it has even surpassed the rank of Xbox 360 in the all-time console rankings. With a total of 84 million consoles sold, the Switch ranks 8th among the best-selling consoles of all time.
According to the latest financial report from Nintendo, 84.59 million copies of the Switch have now found an owner, around 590,000 more than the Xbox 360. However, the console does not yet come close to the in-house megasellers Gameboy and NDS. Their sales figures are 118.69 million Gameboy and 154.02 million DS.
Incidentally, a whopping 587 million games for the console have been sold since the Switch was released. At the top is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with 35.39 million units, followed by Animal Crossing: Horizons with 32.63 million. Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild brings it to 22.28 million.
