The Nintendo Switch is now six years old. As a result, the performance of the hardware, which is not particularly powerful anyway, is now somewhat outdated and the calls from fans for a Pro version or even a successor console are correspondingly loud. A job advertisement fuels the eternal rumors once more.
When will Nintendo finally treat us to some kind of new version of the Nintendo Switch? Only the Japanese company knows that, but rumors keep coming up. Now a job posting is causing an uproar among the fans.

Nintendo European Research & Development (NERD) is currently looking for a Game Tech Engineer. At first, the job offer doesn’t sound very exciting, it’s about developing and implementing various software solutions. The description is interesting in that it also talks about next-gen technology.
Specifically, it says: “The goal will be to target and surpass cutting-edge solutions in these fields for the current and next generation of Nintendo platforms. It will be necessary to work with game developers to bring technologies to the market. “
Of course, all this is kept very vague and accordingly we probably don’t have to expect the presentation of a new console in the near future. But the original Switch is now more than six years old and has reached its limits in terms of performance. So it could be that Nintendo gives the hybrid device one last big highlight with The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and then shifts the priorities to the new platform.
The NERD department is definitely the right place to develop new devices and could be instrumental in a possible Switch 2. For example, NERD provided the emulation software for the NES Classic and SNES Classic, as well as Nintendo Labo and the heartbeat sensors for Ring Fit Adventure.
