Nintendo has presented current business figures and it becomes clear: The Switch is still on the road to success and is now approaching a magical mark. The current Mario Kart has already reached such a milestone.
As can be seen from the latest annual report from Nintendo, the success story of the Switch continues unabated. So far, more than 92 million copies of the console, which can be used mobile as well as stationary, have wandered over the counter. In the second quarter of the financial year alone, Nintendo was able to sell a further 3.83 million Switch consoles – and thus the magic mark of 100 million sales is getting closer and closer.
As for software sales, things are looking good for the Japanese too. In the meantime, over 681 million games have been sold, 48.6 million in the last quarter alone. Particularly noteworthy in this context is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
Why? The title sold a further 3.34 million copies in the first half of the current financial year and has now sold 38.74 million copies since its release in 2017. This means that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is now the most successful part of the long-standing Funracer series. This title was previously held by Mario Kart Wii, which sold 37.38 million times.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD, which is now 3.6 million copies in the six-month period, continues to sell well. Animal Crossing: New Horizons made another 2.22 million sales.
