So far, Switch Online has only had new additions to the game offer, but that has now changed suddenly.
The Nintendo Japanese have continuously expanded the range of retro games via the online service Nintendo Switch online over the years and have repeatedly jumped new titles of earlier days. Fans of the old consoles generations around NES, Game Boy, Snes, N64, Game Boy Advance and Sega Genesis/Mega Drive got their money's worth. Shortly before the start of the Switch 2 era, there is something like a turning point here.
So far, all titles that were added to the offer have always been available and permanently available at Switch Online, but now there is a departure to report for the first time. It was now officially announced by the Nintendo Support that Super Soccer (AKA Super Famicom Soccer in Japan) will no longer be available at Switch online from March 28, 2025.
Spicy: Super Soccer is completely removed from the service and completely erased. It can no longer be downloaded and those who have already downloaded it will no longer be able to gamble.
Super Soccer is not a first party, but a third party title from Spike Chunsoft. So the chance is probably not so small that Nintendo with third -party manufacturers also only put on temporary deals in relation to switch online – but it is still a novelty for the service.
In this respect, it remains to be seen to what extent the game library for subscribers will also become even smaller within the Switch-2 era.
