Gaming News Nintendo Switch: The prototype logo revealed for the first time!
With its hybrid concept, the Nintendo Switch has conquered the whole planet and the Kyoto company has rediscovered the aura it had during its greatest successes. But to the model that we know, the beauty has gone through countless intermediate stages. Back then it had a codename: NX. It was initially presented to studios and developers under this name.
The creation of a console (or product for short) goes through many stages and it’s not uncommon for a codename given at the very beginning of development to stick around for a very long time. The history of video games has repeatedly shown that machine names – which have now become canonical – were late in being validated. The codename NX was used for the Nintendo Switch for a long time, but nothing really circulated on the subject.
A first logo for the NX
Before Nintendo presented its console under the name Switch, Nintendo used the term NX for NeXt-Generation and under this name the concept was presented to hand-picked developers from various major studios. We had to wait, but users managed to get their hands on a new element: the logo and even the animation of the NX logo! By extracting files from an unfinished copy of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (in development), those interested stumbled upon this unreleased sequence. And how many times have they not hesitated to let everyone benefit from the Internet. Years after the rumors of the NX-turned-Nintendo Switch, here’s the prototype of the shoe!
The Nintendo Switches codename was NX and this was an early logo/boot-up animation used during the development of the console (it was found in the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe prototype). This has never been seen outside of Nintendo pic.twitter.com/B1bS5zCKOu
