This is the end of an era.
Nintendo announced that it will no longer provide the original model of its Wii console in Japan after March 31.
All Wii color variations are related to the RVL-001 model. So for now, both the RVL-101 model introduced in 2011 and the Wii mini RVL-201 model introduced in 2017 are safe.
According to the company, finding the right parts to repair hardware that has been around for 13 years has become difficult. Nintendo even warned that if you do ship the Wii before the March 31 deadline, it may still not be repairable if the necessary parts are no longer available.
After more than a decade of using consoles, it may come as no surprise that Nintendo's situation is changing. Last summer, we reported that the company will release Wii's final title, Ubisoft's Full Dance 2020.
