Imagine the confidence you must have in yourself to go into filming an action scene that involves fighting against Henry Cavill y Tom CruiseWe are talking about two icons: Superman and Geralt of Rivia for Cavill and Ethan Hunt and Pete Mitchell, aka Maverick, for Cruise. It is no small feat.
This was the fate faced by all the actors who applied for the role of Decoy John Lark, the character who fights Ethan (Cruise) and Walker (Cavill) in the bathroom scene. Mission Impossible: Fallout. It is a brutal action sequence made famous by Henry Cavill’s iconic arm movements.
It was in 2021 when the director of the film, Christopher McQuarrierevealed to The Hollywood Reporter that the role was intended for a renowned actor… although none agreed. Why? “It’s a sequence that other actors, when they discovered the level of commitment required, simply opted not to do.”
No actor, not even the one they had in mind and whose name was not revealed, managed to keep up with Cavill and Cruise. Needless to say, they didn’t really fight, but filming these scenes is physically exhausting. Just ask Keanu Reeves in John Wick!
How did they resolve the issue? McQuarrie had to turn to one of the film’s stunt specialists, Liang Yangwho certainly lived up to the two legends he shared the stage with in a brutal action scene. You can see it just above this paragraph. It’s several minutes of uninterrupted punches.
