We’re past the launch of No Man’s Sky, but for many people one of the memories it left behind (besides all the unfulfilled pre-launch promises) was loneliness. At the time, NPCs were very rare, and many of the systems and mechanics that players associate with games today had yet to be implemented.
But what if you could jump to the era of No Man’s Sky? really Is that a descriptive name for a space exploration title from Hello Games?

This is driftis the next major update for No Man’s Sky, designed to deliver. Drifting is the latest in a series of free content updates for the game, but rather than adding new content, it removes some.
Adrift transports players to an alternate universe where NPCs, other life forms, trade, shops, and many other amenities are absent. This is a world that has yet to be tamed, where monsters roam freely. The buildings that players love to enter and explore are all dilapidated, with only travelers’ graves marking the way.
There is an interesting story behind this, and you need to go on a space expedition, where you will find the cursed frigate and start a quest to solve the mystery, which will eventually allow you to obtain a piece of land in this desolate world.
And, because Hello Games can’t help themselves, Adrift does have some new content too, like a new Hauler starship – the Iron Vulture. Following on from the ship customization added by March’s Orbital update, Adrift also brings a host of new customization options for all ships.
In a press release announcing Adrift, the developer said the game started out as just the next Expedition for No Man’s Sky, but has since expanded and morphed into its own update (and an Expedition as well). The better news is that Hello Games is still not done with the game, and has promised more content in 2024.
