If you are currently surfing on Reddit, you will not see any posts there, only an error message. The reason for this is apparently not a technical fault, but a protest by parts of the community.
There have been problems with Reddit since around 4:45 p.m. today, June 12th. If you call up the social news aggregator in the browser or in the app, you won’t see any posts, just the message “Something went wrong. Keep calm.”. The problem is not limited to Germany. Corresponding reports from fans from all over the world can be found on Twitter.
Behind this is apparently not a failure, but a protest. As the BBC reported, numerous moderators have announced that they will close their subreddits for 48 hours on Monday. The reason is a dispute over how Reddit handles third-party apps. These are to pay higher fees for access to the site and their contributions in the future.
