No Peace To The Dead: The Shocking Ending Of The Netflix Series Explained

With “No peace to the dead“is a captivating Spanish thriller series on April 30th, 2021 on the streaming service worldwide Netflix started. Emma and Candace flee and assume new identities

Emma and Candace enter the room and see Anibal and the horribly battered corpse. A fight ensues and Candace shoots Anibal.

With her presence of mind, Emma pretends that the dead woman is Candace. The two flee to Sister Hermana Irene (Susi Sánchez) and Emma begins a new life in the monastery under the name of Sister Maria.

Candace, on the other hand, becomes Olivia Costa and later meets Mat. The two of them sink Anibal’s corpse into the sea, where the pimp previously had the bodies of his murdered prostitute disappeared.

Who Killed Sister Maria?

Who really murdered Gallardo and Sáez?

In the finale of “No Peace to the Dead”, Mat is suspected of murder: He is said to have murdered policeman Gallardo and Anibal’s former henchman Sáez. In truth, Dani’s father Jaime (Gonzalo de Castro) has the two men on his conscience.

Jaime is the father of the young man whom Mat accidentally killed once in the past. He found Mats’ prison term too short and never got over the loss of his son. When he sees Mat and the pregnant Olivia happy in the hospital, the doctor comes up with a terrible plan.

He starts following Candace / Olivia and sees her meet up with Emma / Sister Maria at the zoo every week. Then Jaime happens to be watchinghow Sister Maria falls to her death. He then approaches Gallardo and Sáez.

Everything that then happens to Mat in the presence of “No Peace to the Dead” goes back to Jaime. He orchestrates the call to Olivia and instructs Sáez to record the video of the naked, sleeping Olivia and send it to Mat when the two criminals took her under their control in the hotel room.

But with the help of investigator Zoe (Anna Alarcón), Mat finds Sáez’s hotel room and is able to free Candace / Olivia.

When Jaime shot dead the corrupt policeman Gallardo by chance, he comes up with a new plan: He collects a fingerprint from Mat, also shoots Sáez, and makes it appear as if Mat was the culprit.

In the final episode of “No Peace to the Dead”, Mat threatens Jaime at home in the presence of his wife Sonia (Ana Wagener) with a gun and finally finds out the truth.

Did Mat commit murder in prison?

Yes! Mat killed his fellow inmate Romero (Toro) in prison, and at the very end of “No Peace to the Dead” only the audience hears about this. Mat isn’t even telling Olivia the truth.

However, there is more to the murder than it has always appeared: Dani’s father Jaime, the murderer of Gallardo and Sáez, paid Romero to kill Mat in prison.

So, to a large extent, Mat acted in self-defense and defended himself against a nasty assassination attempt. After overpowering and disarming Romero in battle, he drops his knife.

Now the confrontation could be over, but Romero attacks again. Only now does Mat throw him over the railing and Romero falls to his death.
