The FF9 remake is long overdue, but fans don’t have time. That’s good, there is already an alternative and it’s absolutely great. We can say what we want, some players really have a lot of talent.
It is one of the most anticipated remakes, even if it is not even official yet, the FF9 remake is highly coveted. It must be said that if we have Final Fantasy 7 on our lips as soon as we talk about the license, the ninth installment is one of the most appreciated by fans. Perhaps more toned down than the other games, even more heroic fantasy, but its charm is undeniable. When rumors of the development of a remake began to emerge, naturally many players became impatient.
Why wait for the FF9 remake when there is already an excellent one?
But while you’re waiting for that potential FF9 remake that hasn’t even been made official or anything, why not turn to the community? It turns out that some fans have talent, lots and lots of talent. One of the most famous projects on FF9 is undoubtedly the Moguri mod. Since 2019, this mod has been giving Final Fantasy 9 a second life by improving almost everything. Recently, the mod received a major update, Update 9.0, which once again changes everything.
Now more than ever, FF9 is in need of a remake. The game with the Moguri mod is great. The backgrounds have all been reworked and refined, as well as certain models that are still outdated and the tables during battles. The work is colossal, but the result is worth the detour.
The Moguri mod is of course completely free, but requires the Memoria patcher (available on the Page you are modifying in question). Of course, everything is free, but requires a Steam version of FF9, which of course costs money.
