No Rest for the Wicked, the new action role-playing game from Moon Studios, caused a stir when it was announced. But now there is bad news on the appointment front.
No Rest for the Wicked was actually supposed to go into early access in the first quarter of this year, at least that’s what was announced when the game was announced. Nothing will come of this, as Moon Studios and publisher Private Division announced.
Early access on Steam won’t start until the second quarter. “It’s been postponed for a quarter and as always we will postpone something if we feel like we want to give it a little more polish to make it the best it can be and an even greater experience for consumers will,” said Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick (Take-Two is the parent company of Private Division).
It remains unclear when the game will finally be officially released for PC, Xbox and Playstation. A release period has not yet been announced, so a lot will probably still depend on the early access phase and what changes need to be made based on the feedback.
After all, on March 1st, Moon Studios wants to reveal more details about the game, which has been in development for six years, and its gameplay as part of a digital showcase. “We look forward to presenting our own interpretation of what we have always envisioned as the core of the ARPG genre, while also taking the next steps to reinvent the elements we believe are ripe for innovation invent,” said Gennadiy Korol, the studio’s technology and production director.
Like Ori, No Rest for the Wicked will also feature a detailed, hand-drawn game world in the style of a painting. The setting on the winding island of Sacra is said to be characterized by a verticality that has previously been unusual for the genre. You can have fun in dark crypts as well as in lush forests and treacherous mountain passes. Complex characters with their own problems, hidden treasures, wild creatures and secrets can be found everywhere.
When it comes to combat, Moon Studios relies on a brutal precision combat system that is characterized by intuitive attacks and deadly moves. The focus should be on skill and timing beyond simple button mashing.
