No signature, archive in the required location: DHL, UPS, DPD, GLS and Hermes are different

Despite the corona virus, parcel delivery and delivery are still possible in Germany. However, customers should be prepared for certain changes. For example, signatures are no longer required. We explained the things to consider when using DHL, UPS and Co.

In order to slow down the spread of the coronavirus and protect customers and employees, all major German logistics companies have made some changes to their services. Regarding the sending and receiving of packages, we summarize below the changes in the rules of DHL, UPS, DPD, GLS and Hermes currently operating in Germany.

However, different conditions apply to international transportation. We wo n’t go into detail about them because they mainly depend on the target country and changing official regulations. Generally speaking, due to the decline in air transport capacity, most providers also experience delays internationally. For more information about international transportation, please contact the relevant company directly.

Deutsche Post / DHL

At present, there are no obvious restrictions on the transportation of letters or parcels by Deutsche Post and DHL in Germany. However, the company has begun to deliver letters and parcels that require signatures without the recipient ’s signature: or, in this case, the delivery person signs it.

Recipients are also encouraged to ship the package to the packaging station or determine the storage location before shipping-because both will prevent direct contact between the shipper and the receiver. Post and DHL branches are still open. If possible, Swiss Post recommends postmarks and parcels online.

If possible, the goods should also be delivered to the packaging station. If this is not possible, there will be no barriers to accessing the branch-the post office has been explicitly excluded from the current mandatory closure. However, smaller receiving points integrated into other stores may be closed, provided that the entire store is affected by the current mandatory closure. National delivery time should be basically normal.
