It’s the season of donations. As Christmas approaches, NVIDIA and my world Created an interesting and festive Minecraft experience for charity. This smiling winter wonderland is made up of more than 30 million blocks. It is a free downloadable custom Minecraft map designed to raise funds and increase visibility for the London Children’s Hospital-Great Ormond Street (GOSH).
The map makes full use of sexy ray tracing technology, adding some interesting Christmas themed stories, from interactive Santa Claus in the cave to rides, food stalls, and even some temporary tasks.
This is a very impressive creation, requiring a (perhaps exhausted) Minecraft expert to spend more than 3,000 hours to build and span an absolutely huge 38 acres. Cleverly, the free map allows users to donate to the hospital using the mechanism in the game, and the hospital is fully reproduced in the Noelle diorama.
For those who do not understand the excellent work of GOSH, donations will help fund the hospital’s medical technology, rare disease treatment and treatment research, and strengthen patient and family support services. In other words, the money is well spent.
It has been a pretty good week for Minecraft, and Mojang’s unstoppable hunk has more than 1 trillion views on YouTube. Therefore, it is not surprising that NVIDIA still hopes to use Mojang’s beloved creation to attract such a large audience.
