The usually well-informed leaker kopite7kimi brings via Twitter into the conversation, which most have already expected anyway: Nvidia is releasing the graphics card originally planned as the RTX 4080 12GB as the Geforce RTX 4070 Ti instead Request from another Twitter user he confirms January 2023 as the release period.
You can find out more about the anything but ordinary background to the short-term cancellation of the RTX 4080 12GB in the article Nvidia’s unprecedented withdrawal: I’ve never experienced anything like this in over twelve years as a hardware editor
.
What to expect from the RTX 4070 Ti? In short, exactly what was to be expected from the RTX 4080 12GB, as the specifications are intended to remain the same. So it will be much slower than the RTX 4090 and also clearly slower than the RTX 4080 with 16.0 GB VRAM, which will be released shortly or on November 16th.
It was precisely this fact that Nvidia had criticized after the official presentation with a view to the naming. From the beginning, many saw the card as an RTX 4070 (Ti) rather than an RTX 4080. Nvidia is now taking this into account accordingly. You can read about how extremely fast the RTX 4090 is in our detailed test:

The tech remains the same, but what about the price?
The significantly lower computing power compared to the RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 16GB is mainly due to the lower number of computing cores. The top model has an impressive 16,384 of them, the RTX 4080 16GB has 9,728 and the assumed RTX 4070 Ti has 7,680.
The RTX 4070 Ti (or the former RTX 408012GB) is also clearly behind when it comes to the important memory bandwidth. The RTX 4090 achieves 1,008 GB/s (384-bit interface), the RTX 4080 with 16 GB comes to 672 GB/s (256-bit interface) and the RTX 4070 Ti to 504 GB/s (192-bit -Interface).
The question of the price is particularly exciting (and so far unanswered).. Basically, you would expect an RTX 4070 series card to end up being priced lower than an RTX 4080 series GPU. However, many fear that the GPU will appear at the originally planned price.
According to Nvidia’s idea at the time, 1,099 dollars were officially planned for the RTX 4080 12GB. For comparison: the RTX 4090 is 1,949 dollars and the RTX 4080 16 GB at 1,469 dollars. The predecessor of the possible RTX 4070 Ti in the form of the RTX 3070 Ti, on the other hand, has an RRP of as Founders Edition from Nvidia only
649 Euro.
An important role could also play when AMD’s possible competition in the form of an RX 7800 XT will appear and how expensive it will be. The RX 7000 flagships, the RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XR, have already been officially launched, costing $999 and $899 respectively and coming on December 13th.

Ultimately, all of this remains speculation until Nvidia makes an official statement. On the other hand, the fact that the RTX 4080 12 GB will appear under a new name can be regarded as certain, after all it is essentially a finished GPU. In view of the current rumours, we consider both the naming and the timing to be absolutely plausible.
The well-known actor and gamer Henry Cavill shouldn’t be particularly interested in all of this, after all he already has the absolute high-end segment in mind for his next PC upgrade. You can find out more about this in the following article:

How do you assess the situation? Is an RTX 4070 Ti really coming to market in early 2023? And if so, what price do you expect? Is Nvidia just changing the name and keeping the costs the same? Or will the price be revised down a bit? Feel free to write it in the comments!
