The leaks about Nintendo's new console are increasing. A dummy that is said to be very similar to the Switch 2 was presented behind closed doors at CES. In addition, the handheld is reportedly already in circulation. Now Nintendo will apparently make the announcement this week.
All Nintendo fans should mark January 16, 2025 in their calendars. The original source goes back to the Nate the Hate podcast. The platform The Verge confirmed the appointment, citing internal sources. Accordingly, the announcement could follow on January 15th. The reveal will follow one day later, on January 16th.
So the rumor seems to be quite credible. However, rumors should always be treated with caution.
Nintendo Switch 2: When will it be released?
Nintendo will announce the console and most likely give a release date or time window for when we can put our hands on the triggers. The reveal time matches the previous rumors about the Switch 2. The release could actually take place in March 2025 at the earliest.
However, Nate the Hate assumes that the Nintendo Switch 2 won't be available until May or even June comes into stores. After all, we may get a little taste of the second generation on Thursday.

Consoles 2025: Will the Switch 2 be the last successful console?
The first launch titles should be announced
A Nintendo console without Super Mario is not a Nintendo console. A new Mario Kart is suspected as a launch title, like that Colleagues from GamePro write. A 3D Mario is also expected to follow later in the year.
As a reminder: Mario Odyssey was released for the Nintendo Switch on October 27, 2017.
But the real excitement is likely to be Metroid Prime 4: Beyond attract attention. Die-hard Samus fans have had to wait several years for the Prime series to continue. The last appetizer for the game was at the Nintendo Direct in July 2024.
