Death Stranding 2 is now complete—Hideo Kojima and his team have officially announced it, and the celebrations have already begun with a banquet worthy of the occasion.

For those who can’t wait, the Digital Deluxe Edition includes 48-hour early accessmeaning players can start their journey on June 24 on PlayStation 5.

Death Stranding 2 has revealed new details about its combat, exploration, and other mechanics, including a bold promise from Hideo Kojima: some bosses can be defeated without fighting.

We’ve got good news—development on Death Stranding 2 is now complete, meaning the game has gone gold. In other words, Kojima Productions has the final master copy of the game ready.

This marks the beginning of a short marketing campaign, as well as Phase 2 of Hideo Kojima’s projects. This includes two new games—OF and Physint—along with an anime and his first feature film.

Now that Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is gold, Kojima Productions is celebrating in grand style. After years of anticipation, Death Stranding 2 has finally become a tangible reality. Development is complete, and the creator himself posed with the game disc to confirm it has officially gone gold.

“Today we successfully received the golden master approval for DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH. We’ve completed the daruma’s right eye. Thank you all so much,” Kojima wrote in a tweet on Twitter/X.

Remedy Entertainmentcreators of Alan Wake 2 and Controlwere quick to send their congratulations, and the celebration at Kojima Productions included a banquet fit for a king.

First, the entire team painted in the right eye of the Darumaa spiritual good-luck doll kept in the studio. This final act symbolized the completion of Death Stranding 2’s development.

Kojima also shared several photos from the celebratory banquet, showing items with the game’s official branding and even commemorative t-shirts.

Release Details

Kojima Productions is in full party mode today—and with good reason. Many likely breathed a sigh of relief seeing GTA 6 delayed to May 2026especially since Death Stranding 2 had adjusted its own date in response.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach will launch exclusively for PS5 on June 26, 2025in two different editions. At the moment, it’s unknown whether it will later come to PC or Xbox, though Kojima has already shared his thoughts about the film’s director.
