One Piece Odyssey There’s finally a release date, and as confirmed in a new trailer, it’ll launch on January 13, 2023.
Fans of the Straw Hats will be able to join the lovable pirates on their next video game adventure in just a few months, Bandai Namco announced in a new trailer for the Tokyo Game Show. The new trailer sets up some of the story in the game, unsurprisingly stripping each character of their powers. As in many shounen anime, the crews are pretty strong these days, so you have to do something at the beginning of the game to weaken them.
The Straw Hats have to collect cubes to regain their powers, and while the trailer is mostly cutscenes, it doesn’t show exactly how you’ll do that.
One Piece Odyssey features original stories and also brought in series creator Eiichiro Oda to do some character and monster designs. Among them, Monkey D. Luffy and co. Travel through a mysterious island said to be full of treasure, meaning you’ll be able to explore an open world and engage in turn-based combat.
Pre-ordering the game will get you a slew of goodies, most importantly obviously the travel set, which makes the Straw Hats look like their original (and often better) designs. There’s also a digital-only deluxe version of the game that includes some rare accessories, another outfit, and some extra stories to come later.
TGS has also made a number of other major announcements. Like A Dragon: Ishin is from underworld developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, and is a remake of a spin-off game from the 1800s series that was previously only available in Japan. The “Rulong” series has also been officially renamed “Rulong”, and “Rulong 8” is confirmed to be released in 2024.
