snowstorm Game director Aaron Keller has addressed some issues Overwatch 2 In a recent blog post, players are still experiencing its ranked mode.
Overwatch 2’s ranked mode hasn’t felt quite right since it launched last year, especially since players aren’t entirely confident in their true ranks. To address this, Keller published a blog post explaining what he believes to be the problem, as well as promising changes for season 3.
“The new ranking model lacks understanding,” Keller wrote. “There is confusion about a player’s true rank and how that translates to their skill level, difficulty teaming up with friends, and a negative perception of matchmakers when players of different levels play in the same match (even if their skill level is similar) .
“We’ll be implementing some changes in S3 and more in S4, all aimed at bringing clarity to the system. More details on short-term changes and long-term vision will be announced soon.”
It’s not just that players have issues with how ranked mode works, but that the game isn’t paying off because players “can’t get the items they want in a short enough time.” There will be more changes and details will be announced soon.
The cost of ults has also changed in Season 3, reducing the return of ults to 25% when changing heroes. Keller also talked about balance frequency, bugs and hotfixes potentially allowing the team to R 20;resolve balance issues faster and allow us to tune Hog earlier” in Season 2. “We’re still planning each season’s initial and mid-season patches, but now have the ability to fill in those gaps as necessary.”
Right now, though, Overwatch 2 is having a Lunar New Year event with new skins, arcade brawlers, and even some Twitch drops for you to earn.
