The recently released Overwatch 2 from Blizzard Entertainment now officially has a new Executive Producer – and he certainly has a respectable CV to show for it.
A few days ago, Overwatch 2 got off to a not-quite-free start, but of course everything should get better in the future. A new Executive Producer should also help, who is now fundamentally responsible for overseeing the general development of Overwatch at Blizzard Entertainment.
The new boss in the Overwatch ring is Jared Neuss, who has a respectable CV to show for himself. Before his new job, he played a leading role in Bungie’s Destiny 2 and Riot Games’ League of Legends. As Executive Producer of Overwatch 2, he will now report directly to Walter Kong, Blizzard’s general manager of the Overwatch universe. Unaffected by the process is the position of game director for the game, which Aaron Keller will continue to hold.
With Neuss, Blizzard is above all gaining expertise in live games, because he has a lot of experience as a producer in this area in particular. At Riot Games, he not only helped with League of Legends, but also with Teamfight Tactics and helped develop the studio’s previously unannounced MMO. At Bungie he was Lead Producer on Destiny 2 – also a live game, and at 343 Industries he was previously involved as Senior Producer on the online features of Halo 5: Guardians.
It is not entirely clear whether and who Neuss will replace at Blizzard. However, it is quite possible that he is simply the belated successor to Chacko Sonny, who left the post as executive producer on the first Overwatch in September 2021.
