snowstorm is playing plum on ice (thanks). This Overwatch 2 The hero will be disabled and unavailable in-game until at least December 15th, as the developers fixed an issue with her Ice Wall ability.
“We’re temporarily disabling Mei to address a bug with her Ice Wall ability, which allows heroes to reach unexpected locations,” said a tweet From the official Blizzard customer support account. “We’re working hard to resolve these issues as quickly as possible and aim to bring Beauty back in our next patch coming out on November 15th.”
Mei’s Ice Wall should be used to deter enemies from attacking you, protect Mei and her team from incoming attacks, or gain an advantage from moving deployable cover. However, the moving geometry also allows the player to “ride” the wall and get to where – at least for now – it should be out of bounds.
Mei is a popular character, and her low-key innocence belies a hero who has been exceptionally powerful in the game since it first launched in 2016. Her crowd-control utility, powerful ultimates, and all-around decent moves make her a staple among amateurs and professionals alike.
Of course, Mei isn’t the first Overwatch character to be banned since its release. We’ve seen both Bastion and Torbjorn removed from the game before, thanks to players being able to abuse their movement settings. oops.
“Only the third hero was banned in the game’s first month,” complained one fan – the top comment on a reddit thread discussing May’s removal. “It’s like the end of Tenacious D when they send the devil back to hell,” said another popular comment, apparently mocking May’s “popularity” in the non-May mainline.
A more disparaging review states that ” [same] The fault is in Kiriko’s ability, [but Blizzard] Although there are skins in the store, there is no way to disable her. “This reflects the fact that the newest hero, Kiriko, can also move around the map unrestricted, but due to the various skins and battle pass rewards associated with the character, players don’t think Blizzard will be willing to address these issues.
