Overwatch 2: Release apparently means the end of the first part

Apparently, means, Overwatch, part, release

Overwatch 2 will be released as a free-to-play title on October 4, 2022, and that apparently means that the previous part will be shelved at the same time. At least that’s according to a recent AMA.

The release of Overwatch on October 4th is already being eagerly awaited. After all, some fundamental innovations are planned, such as the elimination of loot boxes, but also a new season structure with Battle Passes. Overwatch fans will probably have to deal with it, because based on a statement by game director Aaron Keller during a question and answer session on Reddit, Overwatch 2 will appear to completely replace its predecessor.

“When OW2 launches on Oct 4th it will be a replacement for the current Live Service”, at least sounds very clear. Keller noted that any content such as credits, OWL tokens, and contest points will carry over to Overwatch 2. Loot boxes, on the other hand, are not transferred, but their contents are – loot boxes that have not been opened are automatically opened for the transfer. More details will follow as the release date approaches.

Opportunity for further attempts at walking in Overwatch 2 will be available soon, another beta phase will start on June 28th, for which you are still registering can.
