Overwatch 2 has no release date yet, but should still appear for Switch despite everything. However, gamers on the Nintendo console will have to make compromises.
Some Overwatch 2 developers recently took part in a Reddit AMA session and answered a few questions about the action sequel. One inevitably came up with the planned switch version. Because although PS5 and Xbox Series X / S are now on the market as significantly more powerful platforms, Blizzard still wants to please Nintendo fans with the sequel.
In this context, Blizzard’s John Lafleur says, “As hardware has evolved since Overwatch was launched, we’re going to add some new high-end features to the Overwatch 2 engine, but we’re also working hard to make sure all of them our platforms get the best possible experience, also in PvE. “
Switch players should basically have the full gaming experience at their fingertips, but from now on Lafleur restricts: “The Switch is a slightly bigger challenge than others [Plattformen] and we have to make some compromises here. Because of this, some of the high-end graphical improvements won’t be visible here. Instead, we focus on ensuring that all features work in connection with the game mechanics and will then focus on additional features, as far as that is possible. “
Lafleur also confirmed that Overwatch 2 will support cross-play; as soon as the feature is fully implemented, additional functions across the platforms such as cross-progression will be added.
