Originally released in 2013, Path of Exile continues to enjoy popularity and fresh content. Crucible, the next add-on for April, was announced in a live stream.
Grinding Gear Games has announced the next add-on for the Path of Exile action role-playing game, to the delight of its loyal community. It’s called “Crucible” and won’t be long in coming, because it’s already starting next month.
The release of the large DLC package on PC and Mac is already planned for April 7, 2023, but PlayStation and Xbox players will have to wait a little longer: It starts here on April 12, 2023. Then gamers get a lot of new features at hand, including the Crucible Challenge League, Atlas Gateways, innovations to the passive skill tree and its masteries, as well as new Vaal abilities and other optimizations.
From the official side, the most important features of the new add-on are given as follows:
- Crucible-Challenge-League – In Path of Exile’s new Crucible Challenge League expansion, players can customize their weapons with their own skill tree. These skill trees provide bonuses that enhance or expand the character’s playstyle. Experience from Crucible encounters is required to unlock the abilities in the skill trees. Players can select a weapon in Crucible encounters to upgrade at a historical forge. As players upgrade their weapons, monsters merge into larger and more terrifying foes. Players must push their limits to upgrade their weapons as quickly as possible. However, this increases the risk of failing the challenge. In the exclusive endgame area, The-Forge-of-the-Titans, talent trees can be combined to create weapons of unprecedented power.
- Atlas-Gateways – A new part of the endgame are the Atlas gateways. These new nodes allow instant travel between two locations in the passive Atlas skill tree. The number of travel points will be reduced, allowing players to focus on building the skill tree.
- Endgame Content Polished – Breach/Abyss – Two legacy League mechanics, Breach and Abyss, have been redesigned. Both mechanics have been improved in gameplay and clutter has been reduced. This gives the player an optimized experience with highly concentrated rewards.
- Passive skill tree and masteries reworked – About half of the Masteries have been reworked. The new Masteries have more interesting effects that mix up the previous builds and open up numerous new options.
- New Vaal Skills – Nine new Vaal abilities have been added to the game. These are versions of existing skills that have been improved and matched to the original abilities. This gives players a regular boost when they need it, whether they’re focusing on fighting bosses or needing to mitigate damage in a pinch.
- Ascension Revisions – The Saboteur and Pathfinder Ascension classes have been reworked. You get new and exciting tools for greater impact.
- Ruthless Improvements – Made some improvements to the Ruthless mode, like the return of Eternal Orbs and the introduction of Ruthless-specific challenges.
